Obama shows some public speaking skills that we saw last class. An example would be how his body language interacts with what he is saying, since he is at almost all moments looking at the crowd and continuously moves his hand while he talks. A bad thing he does though is that he bends down on the desk with bothe hands and doesnt stand straight.

I believe he meets the criteria half-way because he has dynamism, as he appears in his element and uses emphasis. He gestures and uses his hands. He is also easy to undertand but he is a bit uncredible and his content is sidetracked by his use of religion and other figures. People are there to hear about his ideas, not those past.

Obama is the perfect public speaking character. he is very complete in every small part of it because he makes use of his body and moves, he talks clearly, and has perfect dynamism. Even thought he doesnt know his speech he keeps eye contact with the crowd which is vital.

Sorry for that I by accident published. He doesnt stand straight but it works for him because he manages his breath without any inconvenience and he talks fluidly and regularly with no pauses and no changes of ryth. He has no pen in his mouth and of course why would he it would discredit him completely. This is how you win votes in his case.

Obama has great qualities at public speaking but also has some minor flaws. He takes advantage of eye contact at all times and it's obvious that he knows how to talk to an audience. The volume of his voice is fine and he uses a variety of tones while speaking to attract the attention from the pubilc. His body gestures agree with his words but it seems to me that he over-uses his hand while speaking. His posture isn't the best one because he leans against the table and that affects voice enunciaton. I think that Obama isn't the best public speaker but is a good one indeed.

Mr Obama has good speech skills. He has dynamism, in the speech because he varies the tone and the volume of his speech, making enphasis on his greater points. He is very clear, but that is one of his defects, that sometimes he talks too slow. His gestures were very expresive, both the hands and his face. And last the content was good, but I think that he should leave religion to one side, because he may fall on the fallacy on hidind behind the cross.

Barack Obama shows very good skills of public speaking.

He shows very good dynamism, showing enthusiasm and a variety of words and ideas. Also, he shows some expressions with his body (mainly his hands) although not too many. This is probably due to the setting of the speech; he is probably at the state legislature or something of the sort. I think this different setting would limit the body movement because it is a much more formal speech; his fervor has to be shown through his words not his actions. He shows his fervor through the emphasis of the his words. He constantly changes volume and rhythm to help emphasize his points and ideas (his passion is also shown through this application of public speaking).

Just as well, his speech is very fluent and clear. It is obvious that he has reviewed it before hand which is why he only needs to glance at his notes once in a while. He tries to maintain eye contact with the audience, even turning around to the politicians behind him. This is very important because it helps to maintain the one-one idea of a speech. He is constantly trying to connect with his audience and interact with them.

He brings up the issue of slavery, and his own family history in order to relate to the politicians in the room.

Obama has some really good speaking techniques but at the same time it also has to work on some of his ways of addressing the public. He is able to show a good body language but only during some times of the speech because at first didn’t show a strong posture since he was leaning forward. At first I also had the impression that he didn’t knew his speech as good but he then was able to stand up straight, move his hands to support his ideas, and manage his voice to show empathize in his important points. The first part he could have practiced more but the part on religion, on his grandfathers past and his arrival to America where well presented. He used lots of fallacies and rhetoric as he referred to pathos, ethos, logos, blame, choice and values. He also used many fallacies and these helped him get his point through to the public. He was able to get his point through, which is the most important part of the speech, but he could still have practiced more to have strengthen some of his flaws.

Obama shows good public speaking skills. He adresses his audience with total confidence and captures the audience by looking at them. He also moves his arm, which helps him emphasize on the most important words. He changes his tone of voise which also helps him. I also believe he should stand straight in order to speak in a louder, clearer way. His speech is fluent and extremely clear. I find it impressing how he manages to get the attention of his audience. This speech really caught my interest as I thought I was going to watch a boring typical political speach. I think he does a great job!

This is a very good speech and it meets the criteria that was set in class today. In terms of body movement Obama uses his hands and rotates his torso to engange everybody present. He constantly looks at both sides and I guess this makes thes audience feel involved. He is also very dynamic, he constantly changes his tone depending on what he is saying. Obama uses ethos in this speech.

Obama shoes good speaking skills, he shoes that he is secure of what he is saying and he makes it convincing. He speecks clearly and fluently and he used his hands as the body language but it is still a serious talk so it is formal. I think he is a good speacker.

Obama is very dynamic when speaking. He is constantly moving his hands, his body, and looking at everyone in the audience, which probably made them feel as if they were part of what was going on. However, his voice did not keep up to his dynamic ways, because it tended to be very slow. I understand that he wanted to make emphasis on some points but I don't think that SO MUCH was necessary. He also needed to vocalize a bit more, because at times it was difficult to understand what he was saying. His posture also needed some improvement. In the beginning he was supporting himself with both hands, making him seem a bit sloppy, but I was glad that in the end he stood up straight. The content was overall good, relating himself with the audience through his speech. My final comment is that next time he probably will want to revise the speech before going out because he was constantly looking at the paper, making him look unsure about himself.

In this speech Obama shows really good public speaking skills. He shows a great deal of body movement which shows dynamism and he also emphasizes on the most important points. Another interesting thing is that he speaks clear and fluent witout a great deal of note reading which shows that he had his speech prepared. He also changes his voice tone and speed which helps the audience capture the most important points. He also moves from side to side addressing all his audience which really helps him make his point clear for everyone.

Barack Obama shows good public speaking skills. He catches the people's attention, but how? Obama is understood by the audience. Not only does he speak slow and clear, but manages to change his voice tone properly. He is dymanic, as he looks at the audience and shows hand movements, which indicates his fantastic knowledge on the subject. He's also funny and uses personal example, that touch the audience's hearts. It's amazing how Obama captures their attention. I wish I could someday have the public speaking skills he does.

After reviewing the aspects that makes a good public speaker, we see that Barack Obama applies them all while speaking in front of a crowd. This, off course, makes him a good public speaker. Throughout the speech, he addresses his audience with total confidence, knowing what to say and avoiding any kind of mumbling or stuttering. His speech was fluent, telling us that one should practice before wise. He never looks away from the crowd, except when he wanted to see what point he should say next on the paper he had behind the podium. This is very important because from eye contact an audience can tell if you are confident on what you are saying. He starts speaking very slow and emphasizing on the key point he wanted transmit across the audience. However, dynamism helped him a lot. While varying the tone and the volume in his speech, he set a message across the audience about slavery and his own personal history. Body language or gestures may vary depending to whom the speech is given. In this case, it is a formal, speech so, from what I saw, he uses discreet body movements to help him call the attention of the audience. Overall, this is an example that we as students should learn before giving a speech.

After watching Obama's speech I came to several conclusions regarding the discusion about public speaking we had last class. This man oozes confidence in his speech by applying the appropriate hand gestures which undoubtedly concord with what he's saying in that very moment. He stands straight from the ground, maintaining an erect posture, although he sometimes leans against the stand.
I'd give him a 9 out of 10 for body language.
As he directs his speech, he looks straight into the audience's eyes. He has no time for trash talk; he goes straight to the point, barely looking at the paper where his peech is written, keeping the audience interested.
Sometimes he uses comedy to create rapport between himself and the people; a good public speaking skill.

Overall, a really good public speaking figure. It is a matter of body language, overcomming nervousness, and exuding confidence that will allow us to speak professionally in public. All that is learned with practice, and as it is said, "practice makes the master."

I think that Obama ha very good speaking skills. An example of what we discuss in class is that Obama interacts with whar he i saying, and also makes eye contact with the people which he is directing to, also he uses his handsas a source of expression which is a very good factor. In what he is not very good is that he bends to talk and like we saw in class is that this is not a good factor.

I think Obama has some things that make him a good speaker and other things that may confuse the audience. He has dynamism and changes the tone and volume of his voice, not letting the audience get distracted at all. I was confused by the fact that it seemed that he wanted to talk to the people behind him and rarely looked up front, was this because maybe the audience was to the side or was it just because he preferred not to look to the front? Anyway I think there was great confidence in his voice and he used a tone that was perfect to convince his audience which I think qualifies him as a good speaker. He used hand gestures although he repeated them a lot so they weren't very effective.

Barack Obama has great skills of public speaking. He is dynamic and uses his hands and his body to complement his speech, although in this case he had a very small space to move. We can see that he did not look too much at his notes, and had a constant eye contact with his audience. Obama also used the change in volume and in power in different words, to exalt some important parts of his speech.I loved when he turned to his audience in the back, (I´m gessing other politicians) because he makes it clear that he wants everyone to hear and understand his point of view. I also like the fact that he mentioned his family, this made a connection and expirience, is in many cases needed to make a good argument. Obama is definetly a good public speaker and it is demonstrated that he is passionate for his beliefs.

Barack Obama has a great talent for public speaking. Looking at the objectives fro "speaking", one can find that Obama uses each and every point given. Mr. Obama does not only speak with clarity and comprehension, his credibility and emotion are impeccable. Being dynamic while speaking is really important, but in this case I believe Barack Obama goes beyond the use of dynamics, which makes his speech even more enthusiastic and pleasant to watch or listen. While listening to the speech, I noticed that he repeated some words or phrases and variation does not allow this to happen. In my personal opinion this repetition is done to emphasize the idea and create a greater impact. Mr. Obama also looks at his audience and always tries to keep eye contact with every corner of building where he is speaking. His hand gestures are polite, respectable and by using them Obama is trying to capture the audiences attention and show some emotion as well (so people don't get lost or bored). Concerning naturalness, I believe Barack does it incredibly. He tells his story with pride (the way it should be), makes people laugh and enjoy themselves (who says a speech should bore people?) and basically speaks to the audience as if they were his friends and family without ever regretting his words because he knows (one can see it in his face) that he is only expressing the truth. This is why I believe Mr. Barack Obama is a great public speaker.

In voice, many speakers use the same tactics. They slow down when most of the time, when explaining something, and speed up when trying to emphasize one of their points. Obama mostlu uses the same hand gestures. I also noticed that he kept looking towards his right much more than his left. His body is slightly slanted towards the microphone, he probably did it unconciously but it must have made him run out of breath faster. The rest I believe was fine, with the little knowledge that I have on speeches, I will say that he is pretty good and convinving at it.
