I know have all of your papers and am looking forward to reading them. Looking at just a few I feel we'll need to write analytic essays as well next year. Still, the writing appears to have improved. Remember, the text reveals things to us. We can't write an analytic essay without explore details of the text.
I hope you feel that you have had a door opened to you. I can only say that the QUESTions offered here continue to haunt humanity in its literature. We will see many of these themes next year in novels of various genres and time periods. We've already contributed as readers in our blogs now available for anyone to read who wants an authority on some classic texts. In the future, I hope you see how you can answer these QUESTions in any field that interests you: dance, science, theater, and for some maybe, novels.
To improve for next year, please answer in (FULL SENTENCES) my survey in the response section of my blog:

Ana Gutierrez: How would you describe this class as opposed to your other English classes? Different. In a good way, we learned the classics texts in a new way.
Was the instruction clear? If not, how can it be improved?
Yes.
How would you describe yourself as a student?
Creative. I like to have fun with my assignments.
Are there policies you think are unfair? Explain.
No.
Did you like the literary circles? Why? Why not?
Yes, because we studied the classic texts, which I was very interested in.
What book did you like the most?
A Midsummer Night's Dream
What book did you like the least?
the Teo Te Ching.
Was there a book you didn’t read? Which? Why?
I read at least a part of them all.
Would you recommend this class to a friend? Why? Why not?
On the whole yes, but I guess it depends on the friend.I'd recommend it because of the way the texts are looked at.
What do you think you’ll take away from this?
A better understanding of literature when reading.
Was the instruction clear? If not, how can it be improved?
Yes,I do believe the instruction were clear.
How would you describe yourself as a student?
I describe myself as a student who works hard on his assignments but leaves them all for the last minute.
Are there policies you think are unfair? Explain.
No, I dont think there any unfair policies, I actually feel like I have plenty of freedom in your class.
Did you like the literary circles? Why? Why not?
I did because we read very helpful texts for the future.
What book did you like the most?
There were actually two books that I liked the most, The Analects, and Tao Te Ching.
What book did you like the least?
Its not that I didnt like it, but the book I liked the least was Gilgamesh.
Was there a book you didn’t read? Which? Why?
I was not able to finish the Njal´s, although I wish I could, but there was just too much going on the last couple of weeks.
Would you recommend this class to a friend? Why? Why not?
I actually did recomend this class to some friends who really enjoy getting into a text.
What do you think you’ll take away from this?
Nothing, the class works well the way it is, any change would make a big difference in our learning.
How would you describe this class as opposed to your other English classes?
It gave us a lot of liberty and it was our decision to do our work and learn from it. I learned a lot from this class and we begun to look at another kind of literature and from different perspectives. Also the fact that we were asked to write a lot also helped me improve my writing skills.
Was the instruction clear? If not, how can it be improved?
Yes, the instructions were clear.
How would you describe yourself as a student?
I really like reading and I am usually very responsible but sometimes I would fall behind with our work and let a lot of it accumulate and it was hard to catch up. I also tend to leave things to the last minute.
Are there policies you think are unfair? Explain.
No I think everything was fair and even the class as a whole had on opinion on some decisions which I really appreciate.
Did you like the literary circles? Why? Why not?
Yes because I learn to read different kinds of text and these will be very good references for future texts.
What book did you like the most?
The analects.
What book did you like the least?
A Midsummer Nights Dream
Was there a book you didn’t read? Which? Why?
The end of Njals Saga because I didn’t read a few days and then it was hard to catch up and a I had a lot of things going on.
Would you recommend this class to a friend? Why? Why not?
To some friends I would and to others I wouldn’t because this is a class in which you can learn a lot or very little and it is all your choice. If you pay attention during class discussions and actually read and care about what youre doing, then you can learn a lot of new things from this course.
What do you think you’ll take away from this?
I learned how to look at literature from several perspectives, I learned to use the book to support my statements, the blogs were good writing practice and the write nows as well. I really liked this class and I believe I did learn a lot from it.
Mr. Tangen I have a few questions about the proyect we had to do for the amazon. Could you please post a blog specifying what you want from it and when its due? Thankyou.
How would you describe this class as opposed to your other English classes?
This English class was definately very different. We were working with texts I would never think we would use outside of Religion or Philosophy class. The workload was greater and the pace was faster. Overall, it was a good different.
Was the instruction clear? If not, how can it de improved?
If what you mean are the instructions given in class, some of the instructions were clear but others left you to figure things out by yourself. This was a bit confusing but helpful, it made us a little bit more independent.
How would you describe yourself as a student?
I feel that I did not work to my full potential this semester because I left a lot of things for the last minute, the work acumulated, and in the end I did not do many things.
Are there policies you think are unfair? Explain.
No, there are no unfair policies, there is more freedom than anything which I enjoyed.
Did you like the literary circles? Why? Why not?
Yes I did like the literary circles because they showed me that ancient texts such as these can be interesting and fun to analyze.
What book did you like the most?
It wasn't strictly a book but I enjoyed the Greek Myths the most.
What book did you like the least?
It wasn't a book either but the one I liked the least was the text we had to read over the October break, God's secretaries.
Was there a book you didn't read? Which? Why?
Njal's Saga I only read about 10 chapters because there was a lot going on in that period of time and since blogs were not checked daily I kept putting it off until we had to turn in the books and I realized I was too behind to ever catch up.
Would you recommend this class to a friend? Why? Why not?
I would recommend this class to a friend because of how different it is to other classes and all the knowledge you earn even though there is a lot more, but I would say that they should not enter it if they do not have the time or the energy for it.
What do you think you'll take away from this?
The ability to look closer into texts and knowing that procastination will get back at you no matter what.

How would you describe this class as opposed to your other English classes?
I other English classes I've had in the past, I was used to reading mostly novels, so I was a bit surprised for the books we read in this course.
Was the instruction clear? If not, how can it be improved?
The instruction was clear, but I feel like there was more than one (analyzing the bible while reading Njal's Saga, plus Writers' Workshop). But then again, somehow, all things were related.
How would you describe yourself as a student?
Whether I like or Idon't like a class, I always try to give my best, and do qualitiy work. Sometimes, I don't like to participate in class as much, but I try.
Are there policies you think are unfair? Explain.
I think they are fair.
Did you like the literary circles? Why? Why not?
Surprisingly, I did. Every time we got a new book, that we had to write about in the blog, I thought it was boring, but then, we had the chance to explore different styles and beleifs throughout the texts we read.
What book did you like the most?
Tao te Ching. I don't agree with the 'do nothing/be nothing' thing, but there was a lot of content to analyze.
What book did you like the least?
The Bible. I am pure catholic, but then again, it got boring and repetitive.
Was there a book you didn’t read? Which? Why?
I read them all...except for the book of revelations (lazyness, time?).
Would you recommend this class to a friend? Why? Why not?
I would. It may sound pathetic, like hey we are reading the bible in this class, it's so cool you should join, but like I did, they would too, understand that the Bible has a lot of 'literary' meaning. This class too, focuses on many cultures, cultrues I' probably would've never known about.
What do you think you’ll take away from this?
More understanding on what is proper writing and not, what is okay to use, what is not (things such as pharaphrase, fallacies, intros, etc). Basically, good tips to writing.
How would you describe this class as opposed to your other English classes?
This class was a lot better than many of my other english classes, it also provided a clear foundation for future readings.
Was the instruction clear? If not, how can it be improved?
Yes
How would you describe yourself as a student?
I think that as a student I mainly depend on my class participation to really understand the topics.
Are there policies you think are unfair? Explain.
No
Did you like the literary circles? Why? Why not?
Yes, I thought they helped me to get a deeper understanding of the reading and to get new points of view on important ideas expressed in the different texts.
What book did you like the most?
Tao Te Ching
What book did you like the least?
The Analects
Was there a book you didn’t read? Which? Why?
The Book of Revelations because I was really behind and had to catch up on a lot of things and it was already time to turn in the Bible.
Would you recommend this class to a friend? Why? Why not?
Yes, I would because really with the exception of the Analects the books we read were excelent and have inspired me as a writer and as a reader.
What do you think you’ll take away from this?
Mostly I think that I will have a strong base on early literature and also I think I learned how to write a blog which seemed complex at first, but turned out to finally flow. I also learned that memorizing lines doesn't necessarily make a play boring and that now I think I have a deeper understanding on the way the bible is written and probably can get on to read more challenging texts.
